Second Life bar @ The School of Architecture

A spontaneous school bar was put together and at the MDT SL platform and at the School of Architecture in Stockholm. The performers were avatars from the MDT SL group, and the first life audience were people visiting the bar. A cloth was hung in the middle of the room, allowing the projection to be visible on both sides, the rest of the room was lit with colored lamps giving the room the same color as the performance scene. Throughout the performance the physical room and the scene were changing colors simultaneously, as a way of linking the rooms through their appearance.
The performance pointed out some specific points of interest to us that we found particularly interesting to continue to work with.

1. The audience participation.
How people in the bar started to move in front and behind the screen - being projected into the performance and started dancing with the avatars.

2. The reflections of the projection and possibility to see the projection in many places in the room at the same time. The changing colors reflected out in the room, the image of the projection mirrored in the windows, the colored shadows sweeping on the walls of the room, the weaker image of the projection visible on a back wall behind the screen, the possibility to see what was going on at the computer screens working with the performance – deconstructing and changing the space in First Life.
