Fabrik Potsdam

Half of SLMDT performance group are presently involved in the residency program at Fabrik Potsdam. The residency program at the Fabrik, curated by Ulrike Melzwig, takes the theme of collaboration this year. There are, all together, five groups involved in the residency program. Participants come from Croatia, Sweden, England, Germany and Italy.

The program started with a two day workshop hosted by Antonia Baehr and Leto also inspired by the theme of collaboration. For two days all the groups worked on deconstructing and reconstructing information to form scores and pieces to be performed and processed in different constellations. The two days came to a crescendo when the two Swedish architects each performed a two minute solo.

Each group has been assigned a space in or around the fabrik to develop their work. SLMDT is using their time wisely to work for their second life/first life event at the Steirischer Herbst on the 23rd of September in Graz, Austria. The event, called “the Graz theatre extension”, aims to rearrange the presets of a theatre production in a theatre space. The event will happen simultaneously at four Sims in second life and in four spaces in the near periphery of the theatre in Graz. In each location a meeting will occur between first life and second life and the spaces will be folded together into the theatre space. The group is presently producing four theatres for the four Sims in Second life, whilst working on a grand guerrilla campaign in second life to introduce the possibility for any avatar in second life to perform in the theatre space in Graz in September.
